This policy explains what information Africanskd (africanskd.org) collects when you visit, how we use it and the choices you have. We’ve tried to write it in plain language. If anything is unclear, ask us through our contact page.

What we collect

We collect as little as we can.

• What you send us. If you use our contact form, we receive your name, email address, the subject you choose and your message.
• Newsletter sign-ups. Our newsletter form is provided by Sphere CRM and loads from their servers. The details you enter go to that provider so we can email you.
• Usage data. Like most websites, our server keeps standard logs, which can include your IP address, browser type, the pages you visit and when. We use these to keep the site working and secure.

Cookies

Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. Africanskd itself doesn’t need cookies to work, but some of the services below may set them. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site will still work, though some ads or forms may not.

Analytics

We may use Google Analytics 4 to understand which stories people read and how they find us. It uses cookies and collects information such as pages viewed, approximate location, device type and how you arrived. We don’t use it to identify you personally. You can opt out with Google’s browser add-on or by blocking analytics cookies.

Advertising

Ads on Africanskd are served through Revive Adserver, loaded from servedby.revive-adserver.net. The ad server may set cookies to count views and clicks and to limit how often you see the same ad. We don’t give advertisers your name or email address. Our legal pages carry no ads.

Live headlines and fonts

Our live headline sections are fetched by our own server from other publishers’ public feeds, so loading those lists doesn’t send your data to those publishers. If you click a headline, you leave our site and that publisher’s privacy policy applies. Our typefaces load from Google Fonts, which means Google receives your IP address when a page loads.

Links to other sites

We link to other organizations, publishers and services. We aren’t responsible for how they handle your information, so please read their policies.

How long we keep information

We keep contact messages for as long as we need to answer them and handle any follow-up, then delete them. Newsletter details stay with our provider until you unsubscribe. Server logs are kept for a limited period for security.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal information.

• EU, UK and similar regions (GDPR). You can ask to see, correct or delete your data, object to or limit how we use it, and ask for a copy to take elsewhere. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
• California (CCPA and CPRA). You can ask what personal information we hold, ask us to delete or correct it, and opt out of its sale or sharing. We don’t sell personal information for money. If ad or analytics cookies count as sharing under your state’s law, you can opt out by blocking those cookies or by contacting us.

We won’t treat you differently for using these rights. To make a request, contact us and tell us what you’d like us to do.

Young people

Africanskd writes about young people, but the site isn’t aimed at children under 13 and we don’t knowingly collect their personal information. When our stories involve young people, we get informed consent and leave out details that could identify someone at risk.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top of this page.
